6.27.03 - The Noise Magazine

I don't have enough room to describe Klone with any justice. Unlike the rest of the night's lineup, these guys are a heavy industrial unit, working a humorous theatrical gimmick that involves the band dressing like a cross section of the Russian military circa 1961. A white-masked KGB officer stands at attention to one side while a white-faced Uncle Sam salutes proudly at the other. In the center, a dude resembling Maynard James Keenan's little brother sings unintelligible lyrics in a number of Eastern European languages. Behind him the band thrashes out some very interesting and complex compositions. It sounds like Tool, Prong, Devo mixed together into a very Euro/American metal sounding mix. This is good shit they're laying on the crowd. Uncle Sam and the KGB guy are duking it out on the dance floor by the end of it. I'm so impressed, I buy both their CDs. - JOE HACKING
9.20.02 - D.I.R.T. Magazine

The latest release from Klone is cetainly one of the most unique and entertaining releases I have listened to for some time. Listening to Klone, one cannot help but notice the sound of Cold War communist Deutsch style vocals (some with effects) with traditional 1980's trademark programming. Laibach is a very obvious influence, along with the strict sterness of the German industrial sound. This is especially evident on songs like Schlumburger (a catchy song about genetic engineering), Automation, and Brain. These songs would provide a perfect soundtrack for the Mike Myers SNL skit Sprokets. The album quickly changes the pace with songs like Infernal and Just a Stache; which incorporate the noizy dance songs of bands like Velvet Acid Christ, which is sure to get a rivet head or two on to the dance floor. The aspect that I enjoy most about Klone is the humor they provide to their songwriting. The song Mall Goth is the best example a boot tapping tune about trendy kinder goths. I would highly recommend this CD for any fan of electronic music, or anyone who can appreciate good music with a refreshing new twist. - KEVIN
